Big News! A New Down Payment Assistance Program for Tucson First Time Homebuyers Just Launched

The new Pima Tucson Lighthouse program will guarantee a 6.2% interest rate for eligible mortgages and 4% on down payment assistance for first time homebuyers who qualify. And for those who stay in the home for three years, the down payment assistance can later be forgiven, potentially saving buyers thousands of dollars.

Created by both the Tucson and Pima Industrial Development Authorities, along with $25M in funding approved by the mayor and council, the program is expected to last through the end of this year.

Developed to help moderate to low income earners purchase their first home, the fund will allow those who don’t have the cash on hand needed to cover a down payment and closing costs. These costs are a significant barrier to homeownership, which is one of the leading ways to build financial stability in the U.S.
